"SoilWeb" Gives access to the USDA soil survey information. It uses a GPS reciever to identify soil properties anywhere in the lower 48 states. It can give vital information in the classroom when you are out teaching. This app would be great in an Ag or even science class room.
How it works: It uses your current location to retrieve any and all information about the soil around you. Basically if you can get cell coverage this app can tell you about the soil in the area you are out. All you have to do is ask it to search and it will do the rest.

"Commodity Prices" is a great app to teach your students about Ag Business. It will help you track the market and see how prices rise and fall. You could even do a project where you have students track something like corn prices for a whole semester.
How it works: It has a simple and clean interface that lets you go in and select many things that are in todays market. When you select something say the price of hogs, it will take you in and show you all the information about the recent rise and fall of the hog market. It will even give you videos to watch and news articles to read.

"Ruler Game" This app for .99 cents is a quick and easy way to teach your students how to read a ruler. It is based off of a website called "The Ruler Game" but it is optimized to touch screen. It will help students grow and learn about fractions and the basics of a ruler.
How it works: You start the game and there is a timer. The game will give you a measurement and you have to drag your finger over the ruler to the selected mesurment. It sounds quite simple but when playing the game it can be quite challenging.

"TWRA Native Mobile App" This app would be great in the agriculture classroom because you have the ability to teach kids things like hunters saftey and boaters safety. It gives a broad view of many things that the TWRA deals with.
How it works: This app lets you see all guidelines from hunting/trapping, waterfowl, fishing, and boating. It keeps you up to date on current news from the TWRA. It also will let you renew any of your TWRA licenses which is relevent because hunters saftey exams can be given to students in a high school classroom and this is a simple and easy way for them to renew them.

The "iBooks" app is a great way to keep your classroom well read. Ibooks has a ton of books for any ios that are great in the classroom and can be interactive. They could purchase text books or the school could purchase the text books for them. These text books in ibooks have things like 3D models and interactive maps they are very cool. With the ibooks app you get a free Ibooks Author app that lets you create books for your classroom.
How it works: You download the app then go to the library where there are thousands of books for you to choose from. You could preselect books for your class or let them pick their own. They download at the click of a button and then boom a book right in front of you on the computer or an ipad.

"Learning Patterns" is a free app that helps kids learn how to memorize sequences of shapes and develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. It helps students recognize and complete patterns. It has a very easy interface that is even easy for a toddler to use. This app uses two modes for learnig patterns. In total, it uses 8 different patterns and has 3 levels of difficulty for each pattern.
How it works: In the first mode, you decide the types of objects you want to use to recoginze patterns such as numbers, letters, and images. It will start with the most basic patterns and automatically increase the difficulty based on user skills. The second mode allows you to zero in on specific patterns and lets students master that pattern with a huge variety of different images.

"First Step Grade 1 Math" is a free app that is for four to eight year olds. It has five different categories that consist of counting, addition, time, subtraction, and geometry. It includes more than 900 questions and more than 100 math skills that are aligned to common core standards. It has a zoo picnic theme that keeps children interested and motivated while learning new skills.
How it works: It's a fun app that gives the student coins for getting answers to math problems correct, which they can use to add more animals to their zoo and buy picnic items. They can also "visit the zoo" and interact with the animals and learn fun facts about them.

"Sight Words List-Learn To Read" is a free app that is simple and helps your child learn vocabulary and how to read. It contains 315 words that are broken down into appropriate age groups. It has five game modes that correspond to different age groups that ascend from Pre-k to 3rd grade and then the 6th section is all about nouns. The five game modes start off from easy (2 words only) to challenging (6 words per page).
How it works: It has big and easy to read flashcards for memorization and better understanding. It has different mode settings ranging from easy to more difficult stages. You can also record your own voice to save words and add your own unmlimited number of flash cards. It has customizable speeds of the switching of flashcards.
